Fake Home Warranty Notice - Phishing Scam Reviews

- New York, NY, USA • Jan 07, 2026

I recently purchased an apartment and received a letter regarding home warranty. The letter looked like official business (included statements like "Secured by US Bank NA - Please call to verify. We need you to call today about an urgent matter regarding your property") No business name or address appeared on the letter. I called the number listed on the letter 888-448-9920 and the representative informed me that home warranty is required by New York State law and if I don't sign up for their home warranty coverage immediately, my building/unit will be red flagged as non-compliant. I checked with my mortgage lender and real estate attorney and they confirmed what the representative said is completely false. The representative presented false and misleading information.
